A Rear Ending
Clayton County accident report stated that on November 17,2016 Driver 1 was traveling NB on SR85 in the left lane when she observed another vehicle traveling NB in the left lane at a high rate of speed, which caused her to merge over into the right lane and strike Vehicle 2, which was stopped, in the rear. Driver 2 stated that he was stopped on NB on SR85 when Vehicle 1 struck his vehicle in the rear.  No injuries were reported. Driver 1 was cited for Following Too Closely. Note: When driving too fast, and out of control, expect an accident.

Too Close
Fulton County accident report stated that on November17, 2016 Driver 2 was waiting at the traffic light at Roswell Rd and Glenridge Drive when his vehicle was rear-ended by Vehicle 1. Driver 1 stated that he was about to turn but came to a complete stop as his car rear-ended Vehicle 2 unintentionally. No injuries were report and both vehicles sustained moderate damage, front bumper damage for Vehicle 1 and slight rear end damage to Vehicle 2. Driver 1 was cited for Following Too Closely. Note: Leave at least 1 car length space between you at all times.

Pay Close Attention When Backing Up
Clayton County accident report stated that on November 16, 2016 a unit was called to investigate a private property incident and Driver 1 advised that while backing up, she looked over her shoulder and did not see anything and so started to back into the refueling stall. As she backed into the stall, she felt the bump as she backed into Vehicle 2. Driver 2 stated that she saw Vehicle 1 backing into her, blew the horn, but was unable to prevent Vehicle 1 from striking her. No one was cited due to the incident happening on private property, and no injuries were reported.  Note: When backing up, continue to back up until you stop!

Look All Ways in Parking Lots
Clayton County accident report stated that on November 16, 2016 Driver 2 was driving out of the parking  lot and as he stopped, because of a car in front of him, he got struck by Vehicle 1 who was backing out of parking space. Driver 1 advised that he was backing out of the space when he backed into the front right side of Vehicle 2. Vehicle 2 sustained moderate front right side damage. Vehicle 1 sustained no visible damages. No injuries were reported. No one was cited because the incident happened on private property. Note:  Parking lots are tight and close, so be especially attentive to surrounding vehicles.

Following Too Closely
Clayton County accident report states that on November 15, 2016 Driver 2 was stopping for the red traffic light located at No Main Street, from the WB SR138.  Driver 1 did not stop and so struck the rear of Vehicle 2. There was only slight damage marks to the front of Vehicle 1 and no visible damage to Vehicle 2. The occupants of Vehicle 2 complained of neck pain, but denied having a medical unit respond. Driver 1 was cited for following too closely. Note: For those who 'rear-end' others, they are always wrong.  

Observe Your Surroundings
Clayton County accident report stated that on November 11, 2016 Vehicle 2 was parked at the loading dock of 1775 Maynard H Jackson Service Road.  Vehicle 1 was also in the loading dock area next to Vehicle 2. Driver 2 essentially stated that he had just sat down in his vehicle and had not yet closed the driver's door, when Vehicle 1 pulled forward and hit vehicle 2's door causing damage. Driver 1 stated that he observed Driver 2 get into Vehicle 2 and thought that the door to Vehicle 2 had closed, and therefore pulled forward and hit the door of Vehicle 2. Note: Pay close attention to parked cars, starting up, in proximity to your vehicle.

Observe Your Surroundings
Clayton County accident report stated that on August 17, 2016 Vehicle 2 was parked at the loading dock of 1775 Maynard H Jackson Service Road.  Vehicle 1 was also in the loading dock area next to Vehicle 2. Driver 2 essentially stated that he had just sat down in his vehicle and had not yet closed the driver's door, when Vehicle 1 pulled forward and hit vehicle 2's door causing damage. Driver 1 stated that he observed Driver 2 get into Vehicle 2 and thought that the door to Vehicle 2 had closed, and therefore pulled forward and hit the door of Vehicle 2. Note: Pay close attention to parked cars, starting up, in proximity to your vehicle.

Yield or Crash
Clayton County accident report stated that on August 18, 2016 Driver 2 was traveling E on I-285 in the number 5 lane when Vehicle 1 moved into his lane without yielding causing him to break suddenly.  Driver 2 stated that he could not stop in time and struck Vehicle 1 in the rear.  Driver 1 confirmed his statement adding that he was attempting to get off on the exit to Riverdale Rd starting from the number 4 lane.  Both vehicles had extensive damage.  Driver 1 was taken to Southern Regional Hospital with complaints  pain of neck, back and hand.  Driver 1 was cited for improper lane changes.  Note:  When changing lanes, you must yield.

Watch Those Hills
Fulton County accident report states that on August 18, 2016 Driver 1 was turning left onto Spaulding Drive and did not see Vehicle 2 coming over the hill to cross the intersection. Driver 2 said he applied the brakes, long skid marks are visible, and tried to steer out of the collision but was unable to avoid impact. Driver 2 also said a pedestrian male walked in front of vehicle 1 as she was coming to the intersection and does not know if that played a part in her turning left. Witness 1 was in his vehicle traveling WB toward the intersection and saw he had the red traffic signal.  He saw Vehicle 1 turn in front of Vehicle 2. Note: Always approach a hills & intersections with caution.

Make Sure
Fulton County accident report states that on August 20, 2016 Driver 1 said she was behind Vehicle 2 and thought it was moving forward to make the right hand turn onto SR 9 NB, but it suddenly stopped. Driver 2 said she saw Vehicle 1 coming and thought it was going to stop, but it struck her. Driver 2 was cited for following too closely. Note: Don't ever assume, be sure. 

When in Doubt, Yield
Fulton County accident report stated that on August 20, 2016 Vehicle 1 was in the left turn lane on Roswell Rd attempting to turn West on I-285.  Vehicle 2 was in the right hand South lane going straight.  Vehicle 2 had the green light and Vehicle 1 had a green light with no arrow per Driver 1.  But Driver 1 turned left in front of Vehicle 2 and did not yield to the straight travel lane.  Vehicle 2 attempted to stop but was unable and hit the right rear tire of Vehicle 1 with the front end of Vehicle 2.  Driver 1 was cited for failure to yield while turning left.  Note:  Turn lane always yields.
